I recently stumbled upon this dairy free cookie at Wegmans, and I was completely intrigued. I'm always on the lookout for healthier treats that I won't feel so guilty about eating. These cookies seemed like they might do the trick, so in the cart they went!
Lenny & Larry's calls these "The Complete Cookie", and market them as "baked nutrition". I'm not a fan of the gluten ingredients, but I overlooked that since it's supposed to be a treat. Each cookie has 16 grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber, which is significantly more than a standard cookie. They do contain 22 grams of sugar per cookie, but I like that it's real sugar and not high fructose corn syrup.
This birthday cake flavored cookie had a sweet cake batter taste. There wasn't any weird protein powder texture or aftertaste, which is something I strongly dislike. They were soft and chewy, with a bit of added crunch from the sprinkles. I ate the suggested serving size of ½ the cookie, and it really did satisfy my sweet tooth!
The ingredients for each cookie vary, but here's what's in the birthday cake flavor:
INGREDIENTS: Enriched Wheat Flour (wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), Protein Blend (vital wheat gluten, pea protein, rice protein), Chicory Root Fiber, Cane Sugar, Invert Sugar, Vegetable Glycerine, Palm Fruit Oil, Sprinkles (sugar, palm kernel and palm oil, corn starch, sunflower lecithin, vegetable juice, annatto extract, spirulina extract, turmeric, beta carotene, maltodextrin, carnauba wax, cellulose gum), Sunflower Lecithin, Natural Flavor, Baking Soda, Salt, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum
There are plenty of different flavors to choose from like White Chocolate Razz, Lemon Poppy Seed, Double Chocolate, and yes, even Pumpkin Spice (coming soon). They also offer a crunchy cookie if that's more your thing.
All of the cookies are plant based and dairy free, but they are made in a facility that processes milk. The company also offers muffins and brownies, but both contain milk ingredients.
Overall I like these for a quick, healthier, sweet treat when you don't have time to bake. They're a good option to have on hand for when cravings hit. They'd also be good if you need a last minute treat to take for your little one to a birthday party.
I found these to be a little on pricier side (about $2 per cookie) but I did find them cheaper on Amazon.
